About the Role
We are seeking an inspiring and collegial Civil Engineering Lecturer to join our Civil Engineering team within the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics (SECAM). This is an exciting opportunity to work in the state-of-the-art £63 million Babbage Building, offering world-class facilities and a vibrant environment to shape the next generation of Civil Engineers. You will contribute to teaching and research predominantly in Structural Analysis and Design across undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programmes, delivering an inspiring and professionally-focused learning experience. The role may involve internationalisation activities including overseas teaching delivery and widening participation initiatives. You will have access to new Heavy Structures, Materials and Geotechnics laboratories equipped with advanced equipment to support both teaching and research. Joining an active team of Civil, Structural and Coastal Engineers, you will engage in interdisciplinary collaborations and contribute to established research portfolios with potential for external impact. Due to the nature of the role, working from home is not accommodated. The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to undertaking research.
Experience
- Proven experience providing high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Ideally some industrial experience in structural engineering
- Demonstrable track record of producing high-quality outputs from pedagogic or discipline-based research
- Evidence of attracting funding to support research is desirable

Qualifications
- PhD in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable
