About the Role
Equans is seeking an experienced M&E Technician with a mechanical bias to join the team at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for carrying out a variety of maintenance tasks, including both Authorised Person (AP) and Competent Person (CP) duties, ensuring all mechanical systems within the healthcare environment operate safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities include routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HVAC systems, boilers, water systems, and other building services equipment. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and healthcare requirements, perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs, respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize downtime, and diagnose and clear blockages in plumbing and drainage systems. Acting as an Authorised Person, you will ensure safety compliance and carry out works according to safe systems of work. You will also participate in an on-call rota providing emergency support during out-of-hours periods (one week per month).

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role, ideally within healthcare or critical infrastructure environments
Competency in mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repair on HVAC, plumbing, boilers, and other mechanical systems
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations with the ability to implement safe working practices
Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is desirable

Willingness to participate in an on-call rota and provide emergency support when required

Qualifications
Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) is essential
Level 3 qualification preferred
Valid UK driving license is desirable
