About the Role
Equans is seeking an experienced M&E Technician with a mechanical bias to join our team at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of maintenance tasks including Authorised Person (AP) and Competent Person (CP) duties, ensuring all mechanical systems within the healthcare environment operate safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities include routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HVAC systems, boilers, water systems, and other building services equipment. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and healthcare requirements, perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs, and respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize downtime. Additional duties include diagnosing and clearing blockages in plumbing and drainage systems, acting as an Authorised Person to ensure safety compliance, carrying out CP duties to safely isolate, maintain, and test mechanical systems, and participating in an on-call rota providing emergency support one week per month.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or in a similar role, ideally within healthcare or critical infrastructure environments
Competency in mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repair on HVAC, plumbing, boilers, and other mechanical systems
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and ability to implement safe working practices
Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is desirable

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to participate in an on-call rota providing emergency support
Valid driving license is desirable

Qualifications
Relevant mechanical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent is ideally required
Evidence of right to work in the UK is essential
