About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our maintenance team. You will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely and efficiently. Your work will ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers. The area covers water treatment works, boreholes, reservoirs, water towers, and pumping stations across SW London, ranging from Epsom to Battersea and Addington. The call-out roster covers the whole of South and Southeast London.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled, planned, and reactive inspection and maintenance work on a variety of clean water assets.
- Investigate mechanical and electrical plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the water supply.
- Work on various equipment including larger pumps, smaller chemical dosing pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves, and flow, level, and pressure measurement.
- Provide technical advice and support for technical trainees if required.
- Participate in a 24/7 stand-by rota after a suitable period of training and assessment.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant experience working on mechanical plant and electrical systems, ideally including pumps, actuated valves, and electronic control systems such as VSD.
- Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying, or repairing mechanical plant and electrical equipment.

About You
- Problem-solving mindset and a can-do attitude.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would be beneficial.
- Physically capable of carrying out the role, including working in restricted access chambers.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and under own initiative.
- Team player who supports the development of others.
- Proactive in making recommendations and improvements around the site.
- Excellent communication skills with a good standard of English.
- Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications
- NVQ or City and Guilds Level 3 in mechanical, mechanical engineering, plumbing, and electrical (or the international equivalent).
- For electrical candidates, 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
