Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby and overtime opportunities

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earnings by an additional £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team. You will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work ensures all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers and helps reduce pollution from our sites, making a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact.
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required.
- Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems including VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
- All PPE, tools, and a van are provided.

Requirements

Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.

- Team player who works well in different teams, shows respect, provides helpful feedback, and supports others' development.
- Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications
NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship qualification.
