Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, with potential to increase earnings by £8,000-£10,000 through standby rota payments and overtime
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Technician with hands-on experience to work at our Northeast London water production sites. You will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure our sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact the environment.
Main duties include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and well-being by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing issues or escalating as needed
- Installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance and identifying potential risks
- Providing specialist technical advice and coaching, including supporting the apprenticeship programme
- Delivering excellent customer service to internal and external customers in a professional and respectful manner
All PPE, tools, and a van are provided.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems, or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering

- Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to staff and contractors
- Resilient and adaptable to a changing work environment
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, following design and standards
- Knowledgeable about Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry
- Team player who respects others, provides constructive feedback, and supports development
- Holds a full UK driving licence

- NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship experience
