Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments. Overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance teams across London and the Thames Valley. In this role, you will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work ensures all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers.
You will prioritise health, safety, and well-being by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines. Your duties include undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing or escalating issues, and installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
You will record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify future risks, and recommend changes. Providing specialist technical advice, coaching, training, and developing staff, including apprentices, will also be part of your role. Delivering excellent customer experience and maintaining professional, respectful communication with internal and external customers is essential.
All PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalate as necessary.
- Experience providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.

Qualifications
