Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby and overtime opportunities

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earnings by an additional £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team. You will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure all sites remain operational, benefiting our customers and helping to reduce pollution from our sites, making a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact.

Key responsibilities include investigating plant failures and performing repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions, diagnosing complex faults, and providing technical advice and training to trainees if required. You will work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems like VSDs, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment. You will also complete statutory checks and always comply with Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

All PPE, tools, and a van are provided.

Requirements

Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.

- Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications
NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship experience.
