Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available, with potential to increase earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Additional earnings possible through standby rota payments and overtime, increasing potential by up to £8,000 - £10,000 per annum after training.
About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Crossness STW. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe and running efficiently by applying proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site operational.
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required.
- Work on a variety of equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable equipment, chemical handling, and dosing systems.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Always adhere to Health and Safety guidance and procedures, working safely at all times.
- Equipment provided includes all necessary PPE, tools, and a company van when on duty or on call.
Experience
Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or engineering environment is essential to effectively investigate faults and carry out repairs.
About you
You will be physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. A strong awareness of health and safety issues is crucial. You must hold a valid driving licence as company vehicles and tools will be provided.
Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is essential for this role.
