Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Additional standby rota payments and overtime can increase earning potential by up to £8,000 - £10,000 per annum after training completion.
About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Crossness STW. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently by applying proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site operational.
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and managing repairs during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required.
- Work on a variety of equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
Experience in mechanical maintenance is essential, with the ability to investigate and repair plant equipment efficiently. Knowledge of health and safety practices is crucial.
About you
You will be physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. You must be proactive, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
A valid driving licence is required as all necessary equipment, including a vehicle and tools, will be provided.
