Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available, with potential to increase earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Additional standby rota payments and overtime can increase earning potential by up to £8,000 - £10,000 per annum after training completion.

About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Crossness STW. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents. You will provide technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required. Equipment you will work on includes motors, gearboxes, screw and chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling, and dosing equipment. You will also complete statutory checks as required and always work safely in compliance with Health and Safety guidance and procedures. All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van are provided when on duty and on call.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and fault diagnosis is essential. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and respond to incidents promptly.

About you
Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. Strong commitment to health and safety practices. Reliable, proactive, and able to provide technical support and training to others. A valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
