38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby and overtime opportunities
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earnings by an additional £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Technician with hands-on experience to work at our Northeast London water production sites. You will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work ensures that all sites remain operational, benefiting our customers and helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
Main duties include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and well-being by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines.
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing issues or escalating as necessary.
- Installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying potential risks and recommending changes.
- Providing specialist technical advice, coaching, training, and developing staff, including apprentices.
- Delivering excellent customer service by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, and a van are provided.
Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems, or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications
NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship experience.
