Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, with potential to increase by £8,000-£10,000 through standby rota payments and overtime upon completion of essential company training
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Technician with hands-on experience to work at our Northeast London water production sites. You will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work will ensure our sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact Thames Water's environmental footprint.
Main duties include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and well-being of yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines.
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing issues or escalating as needed.
- Installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying future risks, and recommending changes.
- Providing specialist technical advice, coaching, training, and developing staff including apprentices.
- Delivering excellent customer service by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, and a company van are provided.
Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.

- Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship experience.
