Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Plus standby and overtime opportunities, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earning potential by up to a further £8,000 - £10,000 per annum.
About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Beckton STW. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents. You will provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required.
Equipment you will work on includes motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling and dosing equipment. You will also complete statutory checks as required.
Working safely and complying with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures is essential. All PPE and tools are provided.

Experience
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and repair within an industrial or utilities environment is highly desirable.
About you
Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. A commitment to health and safety and working safely at all times. A valid driving licence is essential.
Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification is crucial. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
