About the Role
We are seeking an excellent communicator to join the regulatory team within the Thames Water Strategic Resource Option (SRO) programme. This programme is responsible for developing several projects aimed at improving resilience to drought and minimising interruptions to water supplies in the Southeast while protecting the environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to regulatory alignment among programme teams, prepare regulatory submissions, and provide regulatory input in project development, specifically on the South East Strategic Reservoir Option (SESRO). You will horizon scan for policy developments impacting the SRO programme, maintain relationships across teams and regulators, and lead coordination of priorities within the SRO regulatory team.
Working within a small, dynamic team, this role offers exposure to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and the chance to shape long-term outcomes for strategic resource options. You will help ensure the strategic solutions progress through relevant regulatory hurdles and identify opportunities to influence the wider regulatory reform agenda.
Key responsibilities include progressing the delivery of the SRO regulation strategy, aligning regulatory issues and submissions between the SRO and Thames Water regulatory teams, developing and implementing regulatory issue resolution plans, and analysing policy developments to inform the programme.
Experience
- Experience in policy development within a regulatory and policy environment
- Ability to apply analytical skills to understand policy implications
- Experience or strong interest in regulatory finance is beneficial

- Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and accessibly
- Strong commercial awareness and a logical, well-thought-out decision-making approach
- Inquisitive mindset with the ability to stay informed on current and upcoming regulatory issues
- Good administrative skills such as minute-taking and providing secretariat support are beneficial but not essential
- Ability to follow through on long-term issues to resolution
