About the Role
Join Egis UK as a Principal Flood Risk Consultant/Engineer and play a leading role in delivering flood risk assessment and management solutions, hydraulic modelling, and sustainable drainage projects for major development, regeneration, and infrastructure schemes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and environmental specialists to help clients navigate complex flood risk challenges while delivering sustainable and innovative solutions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our Flood Risk business by identifying new opportunities, shaping our service offerings, and supporting key market development across the UK. You will lead technical delivery, manage projects, budgets, and quality assurance, and mentor junior team members. Collaborate with teams across the UK and internationally to deliver integrated, nature-based, and resilient flood risk management solutions that respond to climate change and evolving regulatory requirements.

Experience
- Typically 7+ years' experience within flood risk, drainage, or water consultancy
- Proven experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments for planning and development projects
- Experience in hydraulic and hydrological modelling using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Infoworks ICM, Microdrainage, or similar
- Experience developing and supervising surface water drainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) design and assessment
- Engagement with regulatory bodies including the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, and water companies
- Previous business development and client relationship management experience is desirable
About you
- Chartered or nearing Chartered status with CIWEM, ICE, or a similar professional institution
- Strong understanding of UK flood risk policy, National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), SuDS guidance, and relevant industry standards
- Client-focused with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Passionate about innovation, sustainability, and climate resilience
- Ability to mentor and support the development of junior colleagues
- Understanding of catchment-based approaches and nature-based solutions to flood risk management is advantageous
- Must have the right to work in the UK
Qualifications
BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Management, Geography, or a related discipline
