We are seeking talented individuals with varying levels of knowledge in Land Referencing to join our growing team. As part of WSP, you will have access to our Land Academy, designed and delivered by our expert Land team, focusing on providing the best standard training and CPD across the industry, along with support and guidance to achieve your chartership.

You will be supported by a network of experts to manage and own your projects, develop client advisory, line management, presentation, training and leadership skills. We will help you hone your expertise to deliver the most exciting infrastructure projects in the UK, making a real difference to the legacy of infrastructure development.

The role can be based in any of WSP’s offices across the UK or Ireland with the flexibility of hybrid working between office and home.

Core Functions
Ensure successful delivery of projects securely, on time, within budget and to high standards
Be a trusted advisor to clients (externally and internally) and manage relationships
Advise on Land issues across the UK and Ireland, including relevant statutory processes such as DCOs, DNOs, hybrid Bills, Scottish Bills, TWA, T&CPA, CPOs, Motorway Orders, Vesting Orders, etc.
Secure land rights for high profile, strategic infrastructure projects across all sectors
Liaise with landowners, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, key stakeholders, contractors and clients
Collaborate with Land team colleagues and multidisciplinary teams including engineering, environmental and planning teams within WSP and project supply chains
Undertake quality assurance of deliverables related to identification of land interests and rights, negotiation of access for surveys, consents and acquisition of land rights for large scale development projects, land acquisition and planning applications
Support quality assurance and sharing of knowledge and lessons across regions and projects
People management as a leader and role model
Manage, motivate, mentor and develop staff and contribute to business strategy development and delivery
Support bid/tender writing to secure opportunities from internal and external clients
Deliver training on technical topics by contributing to and participating in our CPD-accredited Land Academy
UK and Ireland travel required plus possibility of travel to WSP’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India

Requirements

Experience
Expertise in urban and/or rural environments, property, communities and stakeholders
Experience working on infrastructure development schemes with multidisciplinary teams across various sectors and locations
Experience negotiating commercial terms with landowners and knowledge of legal processes for acquisition of wayleaves, easements and negotiated access
Proven track record of reducing land risk for clients and advising on land-related matters throughout all project lifecycle stages
Experience in development of Orders and/or acquisition of consents and interests in land, with knowledge of relevant legislation
Strong landowner and public engagement skills
Good business and IT skills
Adherence to quality assurance and good document management practices

Ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality outputs
Strong leadership qualities with experience managing, motivating and mentoring staff
Willingness and ability to travel effectively to various sites and locations as required

Qualifications
A degree in Geography, Land/Estate Management, Agriculture or a related discipline
Chartership or membership of a relevant professional body would be advantageous
