About the Role
A well-established, employee-owned planning consultancy based in Leeds is seeking experienced Chartered Planners to join a growing team. As a Principal Planner within this busy consultancy, you will manage a diverse portfolio of projects including energy infrastructure (solar, battery storage, wind, hydrogen), waste management, minerals, and commercial development. This dynamic role offers broad responsibility across all stages of the development process—ranging from planning policy and appraisal, land promotion, and consultancy services to development management and project delivery. Key responsibilities include preparing and coordinating planning applications and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), managing relationships with clients, local authorities, stakeholders, and communities, providing strategic and tactical planning advice at a senior level, leading site appraisals, managing external consultants, and collaborating with in-house planning and landscape professionals. This role provides the opportunity to work on a significant and exciting pipeline of projects within a collaborative and expanding team, with access to in-house environmental and landscape expertise.
Experience
- Chartered Town Planner (RTPI qualified or working towards)
- Strong working knowledge of the UK planning system
- Experience in one or more of the following sectors: energy, waste, minerals, commercial, residential
About you
Proactive and confident planner with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Able to lead projects and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strategic thinker with the ability to provide senior-level planning advice and manage complex planning applications.

Degree or Master’s in Town Planning or a related field
