About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature business as a Principal or Associate Director specialising in Ornithology. You will be part of a talented ecology team working across the UK and Ireland on a diverse portfolio of projects including large infrastructure developments in energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport sectors, as well as smaller local projects. You will manage ornithological aspects from project conception through survey scoping, liaison with statutory bodies, and final assessment, ensuring delivery to the highest technical standards.
Key responsibilities include managing high-quality, commercially astute bids and tenders for ornithological services; authoring and reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) chapters and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA); planning and organising bird survey and analysis projects; undertaking surveys when required; and delivering consultancy and advisory services to internal and external clients. You will also mentor junior staff and lead strategic initiatives to enhance ornithology skills and processes within the region.

Experience
- Proven track record in planning and delivering ornithology projects in the UK or Ireland
- Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area of ornithology
- Experience managing ornithological aspects of large infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated ability to author and review technical ornithology deliverables

Qualifications
