Up to £35,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
About the Role
Join Thames Water as an Advanced Process Technician and play a key role at our Clean Water site in Chingford. You will provide flexible cover to support the existing operations teams based on resource needs and priorities. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to take the next step towards management and lead a team to success.
In this role, you will take ownership of various project work including writing working procedures and instructions, contributing to health and safety improvements, liaising with contractors, raising quotes, and introducing fresh ideas to improve processes. You will lead key field-based activities and support the Performance Manager in managing and coordinating a team of technicians.
As part of Thames Water, you will contribute to building a greener future by tackling climate change, minimising environmental impact, and reducing our carbon footprint.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coaching and mentoring team members including apprentices, upskillers, and new starters
- Providing technical input to support maintenance plans and promote first-time fixes
- Assisting Performance Managers with day-to-day team management and coordination
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture and site pride
- Covering activities in the absence of the Performance Manager or Technical Coordinator
- Participating in out-of-hours standby rota
All personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools are provided.
Experience
- Hands-on operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment processes and plant
- Experience in coaching or mentoring team members is desirable

Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Operating Process Plant or working towards it
- Management qualification or working towards it
- IOSH training completed or willingness to complete health and safety training
- Valid driving licence is essential
