About the Role
As a Project Engineer, you will support the successful delivery of Extra High Voltage (EHV) infrastructure projects across the electricity distribution network. You will manage a portfolio of substation plant replacement, reinforcement, and customer connection schemes, overseeing projects from feasibility and optioneering through design development, construction, commissioning, and final handover. This role combines strong technical engineering expertise with project delivery skills, working on complex infrastructure projects at voltage levels from 11kV to 132kV. Key responsibilities include delivering EHV substation projects from concept to completion, developing and reviewing engineering solutions and feasibility studies, coordinating design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning activities, managing project programmes, costs, risks and resources, ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety legislation and quality processes, interfacing with customers, contractors and stakeholders, supporting outage planning and network access, monitoring project progress and maintaining project documentation and asset records. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices within the team.

Experience
Proven experience delivering projects within electricity transmission and distribution networks or similar electrical infrastructure sectors. Experience with substation plant and equipment operating at 11kV, 33kV, 66kV, and ideally exposure to 132kV. Experience working on plant replacement, reinforcement, and customer connection projects. Familiarity with power transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, substation primary plant, and associated civil infrastructure. Experience on both greenfield and brownfield substation projects, including AIS and GIS substations. Demonstrated ability to manage project costs, programmes, and stakeholder interfaces.

Qualifications
Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Knowledge of CDM Regulations and health and safety requirements. NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification is desirable.
