About the Role
Devon County Council is seeking to appoint an Electric Vehicle (EV) Project Manager to join a small team delivering the Council’s rollout of EV charging infrastructure, including the Devon & Torbay Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Devon’s response to the declared climate emergency and the Devon Carbon Plan, which highlights the decarbonisation of transport as a key priority due to its significant contribution to local emissions.
The role involves managing the delivery of a step change in EV charging infrastructure deployment across Devon and Torbay, working collaboratively with suppliers, district authorities, and other local partners. The Council has secured £7 million in funding from the government’s LEVI Fund, supplemented by private sector match funding, and is one of the first authorities nationally to award LEVI contracts. Mobilisation of suppliers is underway, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping new EV charging projects across the county.
While experience managing similar projects is essential, direct experience with Electric Vehicle Infrastructure is not required. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on Devon’s sustainable transport future and support the transition to low carbon travel.
Experience
Proven track record of managing projects of similar scale and complexity is essential. Experience in Electric Vehicle Infrastructure is desirable but not required.
About you
- Motivated and able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including suppliers and local authorities.
- Passionate about sustainability and the climate emergency agenda.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets.
Qualifications
Relevant project management qualifications or equivalent experience are desirable. A positive attitude and commitment to the Council’s values and objectives are essential.
