About the Role
At Mace, our purpose is to redefine the boundaries of ambition by creating responsible places that bring transformative impact to people, communities, and societies globally. Within our consult business, we combine leading-edge practical expertise and project delivery consultancy to unlock the potential in every project.

This role involves planning and leading the successful delivery of a programme of works managed by an ‘Area delivery team’ comprising the client’s partners and contractors. The client is one of the largest water companies in the UK, responsible for water and wastewater services across England, with a focus on environmental sustainability, economic benefit, and social responsibility.

You will act as the senior interface between the area delivery team and the business, managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure the capital programme is delivered in line with the client’s corporate values and business strategy. This includes adherence to health and safety strategies, target operating models, regulatory requirements, customer outcomes, and resilience.

Key responsibilities include managing project plans from inception through to handover, contract administration under NEC3/4 contracts, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, compliance with environmental and safety standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality.

You will also champion Mace’s values of safety first, client focus, integrity, and creating opportunities for people to excel, promoting a diverse and inclusive working environment and supporting wellbeing within your team.

Minimum 10+ years of project management experience, preferably within the water utility sector or a regulated infrastructure environment. Proven track record managing large or multiple infrastructure/capital projects in a consultancy background. Experience with project, programme, and financial management tools such as Oracle and Primavera P6. Demonstrated ability to build lasting client relationships and lead motivated teams.

Experience in contract administration, including payments, early warnings, and compensation events. Knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts and compliance with CDM 2015, environmental, health and safety, and water quality standards. Experience working with diverse teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.

Understanding of carbon and sustainability considerations in project delivery.

Digitally savvy with strong commercial and financial acumen. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage design and consultant teams collaboratively. Committed to safety, integrity, and delivering on promises. Motivated to grow your career and embrace the opportunities Mace offers. Holds a full UK driving licence.
