About the Role
Join AECOM as a Senior Aquatic Ecologist and become part of a talented team shaping the future of the environment. You will provide technical expertise and undertake surveys for a diverse range of projects including those for the Environment Agency, Natural England, water companies, renewable energy, and nationally significant infrastructure projects. Your work will involve baseline data collection, monitoring, fish passage and weir removal projects, fish rescue and translocation, water quality monitoring, pollution response surveys, drought monitoring, and more.
You will contribute to ecological impact assessments (EcIA), planning, mitigation, and multi-disciplinary projects by authoring technical reports, undertaking data analysis, and producing EcIA documents in line with CIEEM guidelines. You will manage aquatic ecology input into projects including survey design and costing, and play a lead role within a multi-skilled team across AECOM’s nationwide offices and laboratories. This role offers the opportunity to support the wider environmental business and grow within a dynamic Nature practice of over 230 professionals across the UK and Ireland.

Experience
- Proven experience in aquatic ecology, including industry standard monitoring techniques and data analysis
- Experience with the EcIA/EIA process from baseline data collection to impact assessment and mitigation design
- Familiarity with Water Framework Directive (WFD) compliance assessment and associated consenting/permitting requirements
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects and authoring technical reports

Qualifications
