About the Role
Join AECOM as a Senior Aquatic Ecologist and be part of a talented team shaping the future of the environment. You will provide technical expertise and undertake surveys for a diverse range of projects including those for the Environment Agency, Natural England, Water Companies, renewable energy, and nationally significant infrastructure projects. Your work will involve baseline data collection, monitoring, fish passage and weir removal projects, fish rescue and translocation, water quality monitoring, pollution response surveys, drought monitoring, and more.
You will contribute to Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), planning, mitigation, and multi-disciplinary projects by authoring technical reports, undertaking data analysis, and producing EcIA documents in line with CIEEM guidelines. You will manage aquatic ecology input into projects including survey design and costing, and play a key leadership role within a nationwide team of aquatic ecologists.

Experience
- Proven experience in aquatic ecology, including industry standard monitoring techniques and analyses
- Experience with consenting and permitting requirements related to aquatic environments
- Familiarity with the EcIA/EIA process from baseline data collection through to impact assessment and mitigation design
- Experience with Water Framework Directive (WFD) compliance assessment

Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in ecology or related environmental sciences preferred
- Understanding of legislation relating to aquatic environments including the Water Framework Directive (WFD)
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM) is desirable
