About the Role
At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together. More than one-third of all food produced globally is wasted, contributing to 10% of greenhouse gas emissions. Through our marketplace app, we connect businesses with surplus food to consumers who can purchase it at one-third of retail value. As a certified B Corporation, we also develop educational tools, explore new business solutions, and influence legislation to reduce food waste.
We are rapidly growing, with 120 million registered users and 180,000 active partners across 20 countries, having saved over 500 million meals from going to waste. In 2023, Too Good To Go was recognized on Fortune's 'Change the World' list, named one of Deloitte's 'Best Managed Companies', and received the 'Cultural Impact Award' at the Apple App Store Awards.
We are building a new engineering hub in London and seek foundational Senior Backend Software Engineers to join this new team. This unique opportunity involves working remotely from the global Tech organisation while helping to define, build, and deliver product features. You will take ownership of complex backend challenges, collaborate closely with your Lead Engineer, and mentor mid-level engineers as the hub grows.
Our tech stack includes a scalable Spring Boot application running on Java 25 in Kubernetes, deployed in a multi-region AWS setup. Developers enjoy running a full local development environment, ensuring a great developer experience.
Your responsibilities will include building and evolving backend services and infrastructure, developing new features for customers and partners, actively participating in agile processes, delivering high-quality, maintainable, and scalable products, and taking ownership of complex backend features end-to-end.
