About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as a Senior Ecologist and play a key role in shaping the future of the environment. You will work across a diverse portfolio of ecology projects in sectors including power and renewables, infrastructure, environment, and transport. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams such as landscape, GIS, engineering, sustainability, and drainage, you will contribute to projects ranging from large solar farms and energy transition initiatives to habitats regulations assessments and masterplanning for residential developments.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the health, safety and well-being of the team, preparing high-quality and commercially astute bids and tenders, planning and organising ecological project work to meet programme and budget requirements, delivering consultancy and advisory services, and developing pragmatic solutions to complex ecological challenges. You will also be involved in producing ecology chapters for environmental statements and protected species licence applications, authoring and technically checking project deliverables to ensure high standards.

Requirements

Experience
Demonstrable experience in planning and delivering ecological services on projects in the UK or Ireland.
Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area including any protected species licences.
Experience working on projects in sectors such as energy, defence, water, infrastructure, or environment is advantageous.

Qualifications
Membership of an appropriate professional institution (such as CIEEM) with evidence of working towards Chartership.
Well-developed understanding of relevant wildlife conservation legislation and ecological principles related to at least one major habitat type or species.
