About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This role offers the chance to lead hydrological and hydraulic modelling on a diverse range of projects, mentor and develop other consultants, and build strong relationships with clients and regulators. You will manage varied and challenging projects, contributing beyond technical execution to business development, including work-winning strategies, budgetary control, and fee proposal preparation. You will play a pivotal role in the strategic growth of the region's Water & Environment Team.
Working within a design office environment, you will also attend design and site meetings, conduct site inspections, and provide detailed progress reports. Effective communication and liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities are essential to ensure project success. Your technical expertise will be applied in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessments, bid preparation, and fee proposal creation. Additionally, you will undertake research and contribute to expanding our client base and service offerings.

Experience
Significant consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeller with expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modelling. Proven track record in conducting flood risk assessments in line with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and, where applicable, Technical Advice Note 15 (TAN 15). Experience using modelling software such as Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW. Strong understanding of Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and Lead Local Flood Authorities operational frameworks.
Experience in business development, project management, budget control, and client relationship management is highly desirable.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Understanding of the developer industry is considered an asset. Qualifications
Strong Bachelor's degree in a water-related discipline, ideally complemented by a higher degree. Relevant professional qualifications and continuous professional development are advantageous.
