About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This role offers the chance to lead hydrological and hydraulic modelling on a range of projects locally and nationally, while mentoring and developing other consultants. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and regulators, managing varied and challenging projects across a diverse portfolio. Your responsibilities will extend beyond technical delivery to include business development activities such as work-winning strategies, budgetary control, and preparation of comprehensive fee proposals. You will play a pivotal role in the strategic growth and development of the region's Water & Environment Team.

While working within a design office environment, you will also participate in design and site meetings, conduct site inspections, and provide detailed progress reports. Effective communication and liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities are essential to ensure project success. Your technical expertise will be applied to hydrological and hydraulic modelling and the completion of thorough Flood Risk Assessments. You will also contribute to bid preparation and fee proposal creation, undertake research, and support business development to expand our client base and services.

Demonstrated understanding of the operational frameworks of the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and Lead Local Flood Authorities.

About you
Self-motivated team player with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work autonomously while coordinating effectively with line management. Strong relationship-building skills with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders. Knowledge of current planning policies and procedures, with the ability to leverage these to maximise client service and secure approvals.
