About the Role
Nature Recovery is a key outcome of Natural England’s strategy, with Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) serving as a critical and powerful delivery tool. With nearly all LNRS now published, Natural England is entering a phase focused on enabling their delivery through ongoing support to Responsible Authorities and ensuring that all NE operations consider the relevant LNRS in place.

You will join a small, busy team within National Delivery, responsible for managing the demands and opportunities LNRS present for Natural England. You will lead the delivery of geospatial services to the LNRS programme, maintaining and developing the ArcGIS Online LNRS map, collating and analysing LNRS data submitted by Responsible Authorities, and leading engagement with key stakeholders and colleagues across NE and Defra.

This role requires a strong and visible presence both virtually and in person, confidently leading and contributing to meetings, maintaining engagement, and building strong relationships with stakeholders. You will act as project manager and technical lead for the national LNRS map, manage team members, and coordinate with multiple external organisations to ensure data integration and monitoring of LNRS delivery.

Key responsibilities include leading the LNRS Data & Evidence workstream, supporting senior officers with data and mapping queries, developing GIS tools for data sharing, managing data licensing in accordance with Open Government Licensing, and assisting in national monitoring and reporting of LNRS delivery.

Continuous professional development in GIS expertise is encouraged to keep pace with technological advancements and improve delivery and decision-making.
