About the Role
Join AECOM's dynamic Nature team as a Senior Ornithologist and help shape the future of environmental consultancy. Working within the North of England regional Nature team, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of large infrastructure projects across energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport sectors, as well as smaller local projects. You will also support national and international projects alongside the wider AECOM Nature team.

Your key responsibilities will include supporting the preparation of high-quality, commercially astute bids and tenders for ornithological services, particularly in renewable energy, power, and transport infrastructure sectors. You will plan, schedule, and organise all phases of bird survey and analysis projects, ensuring resources, budgets, and controls meet programme requirements.

Delivering expert ornithological consultancy and advisory services to internal and external clients, you will develop technically robust and pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues across a variety of bird habitats including grassland, woodland, moorland, wetland, and coastal environments. You will provide bird data and analysis for Habitats Regulations Assessments, communicate effectively with project teams and clients, author and technically review project deliverables, and contribute to maintaining team performance and skill development.

At AECOM, you will thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment, benefiting from flexible hybrid working, career development opportunities, technical practice networks, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and future.
