About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as a Senior Ornithologist and contribute to shaping the future of environmental consultancy. You will work on a diverse portfolio of large infrastructure projects across energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport sectors, as well as smaller local projects. Supporting both national and international initiatives, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality ornithological consultancy and advisory services.
Your responsibilities will include preparing commercially astute bids and tenders for ornithological services, planning and organising bird survey and analysis projects, managing resources and budgets, and delivering technically robust solutions to complex ecological challenges across a variety of habitats such as grassland, woodland, moorland, wetland, and coastal areas. You will provide bird data and analysis for Habitats Regulations Assessments, author and review project deliverables, and maintain team performance and skill development.

Experience
- Proven track record in planning and delivering ornithology projects in the UK or Ireland
- Well-developed understanding of UK or Irish wildlife conservation, particularly legal and policy frameworks protecting birds
- Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area of ornithology
- Additional field skills in other ecological areas such as great crested newt, bats, or habitats are advantageous

Qualifications
