About the Role
We are seeking a Senior / Principal Consultant to join the Stantec UK Air Quality team, working alongside colleagues in Environmental Services and across Stantec’s Engineering, Buildings, Infrastructure, Transportation, and Planning teams. The Air Quality team undertakes a wide range of studies across the UK throughout the development control process, including site promotion, planning application input, and condition discharge for all scales and types of development. The role also involves detailed studies supporting Environmental Permit applications in sectors such as power, water, industry, minerals, and waste.

You will have experience conducting air quality impact assessments involving road traffic, combustion, and odour emissions using dispersion modelling software and monitoring programmes to inform report writing and contribute to Environmental Statement preparation. There is an opportunity to develop your skills further to enhance assessments reflecting emerging requirements for both human and ecological receptors, providing a more holistic approach to air quality.

This role offers the chance to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams on a variety of land development and urban regeneration projects, contributing technical excellence and innovative solutions to support sustainable development.

Proficiency in applying GIS packages within an air quality context, particularly for digitalising modelling inputs and outputs. Experience assessing highway schemes in line with Highways England guidance (DMRB and WebTAG) is desirable. Knowledge of emissions from power, minerals, industrial, or waste sectors is advantageous. Strong understanding of Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) and the UK planning and regulatory system is essential.

Experience in leading, mentoring, and supporting junior colleagues in a collaborative environment is required.

About you
You are a seasoned Air Quality consultant with a degree in a relevant discipline and a Chartered member of a relevant professional institution.
