£46,000 to £58,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
About the Role
Thames Water is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Process Scientist to join our fast-paced West London team. In this pivotal role, you will have a positive and tangible impact on the water quality for the Capital's drinking water. You will play a central role in ensuring improvements, resilience planning, future protection of public health, and efficient, effective water treatment operations.
The role involves maintaining water quality from source to service reservoirs, responding promptly to incidents, events, and performance shortfalls. You will work within a small team of Process Scientists providing technical support to ensure compliance and champion optimisation initiatives to reduce costs or improve quality at no additional cost.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring water quality from source to service reservoir
- Investigating water quality failures/events at company assets and escalating to the Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP)
- Providing recommendations to internal and external departments to prevent events/failures
- Offering technical support to Production and Capital Delivery schemes to meet water quality requirements
- Supporting internal water treatment works audit processes (DWSP) and conducting treatment reviews
- Representing the company in stakeholder meetings to build awareness internally and externally
- Undertaking out-of-hours technical support on a one-in-six rota, with training provided

Experience
- Degree qualified in an appropriate discipline with postgraduate experience or equivalent industrial experience in a related field
- Experience in investigative work with an inquisitive mindset
- Background in water science or process engineering within a regulatory framework is advantageous
- Awareness of Industry Best Operating Practice for potable water treatment and transmission is beneficial
