About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. We are recruiting a Senior Project Manager to work with our strategic client in the energy sector supporting a major electricity transmission project. This role offers the opportunity to be part of our expansion and deliver distinctive value by managing and delivering key projects and programmes on behalf of our clients.

The Senior Project Manager will manage projects during pre-construction phases including optioneering, development, and consenting. You will deliver client projects to time, cost, and quality requirements within regulated sectors, managing health, safety, and environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project outcomes.

Responsibilities include managing programme, budget, and risks throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental legislation, and CDM regulations. You will provide regular updates on health, safety, environmental performance, milestones, risk and opportunity management, and financial performance.

You will develop projects during early lifecycle phases to ensure robust, innovative designs and deliverable programmes. Management of the design stage includes reviewing proposals for SHESQ management, project risks, deliverability, programme, and safety performance. You will support tendering processes, working with procurement and commercial teams to develop contracting strategies and provide expert input to Scope, Site, and Works Information.

Additional duties include managing project delivery, design, safety by design, commissioning, scheme closure, and post-completion requirements. Acting as the key interface between the project and internal/external teams and stakeholders, you will maintain and develop relationships. You will manage and coordinate contractors and project teams, integrating projects across delivery interfaces to deliver projects on time, within cost, and specification with minimal disruption.

You will manage complex third-party issues including land, consents, grantors, public relations, and community stakeholders. Chairing monthly progress and cost review meetings and attending weekly site meetings will be part of your role. You will effectively manage others, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to help them reach their full potential. Persuading and influencing others towards desired outcomes, demonstrating innovative approaches, and communicating confidently and clearly are essential.

Mace values safety first, client focus, integrity, and creating opportunities for people to excel. We champion a safe, diverse, and inclusive working environment and a continuous improvement culture. We welcome applications from diverse candidates and are open to discussing part-time, flexible, and hybrid working options where suitable.
