About the Role
Tetra Tech Europe is a leading multi-national, multi-disciplinary consultancy seeking a Senior or Principal Environmental Planning Consultant with a focus on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to join our growing UK Environment, Sustainability & Planning (ESP) team. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging and innovative projects across sectors such as renewables/energy, water/utilities, residential, defence, infrastructure, waste, and minerals. You will manage and support a range of EIA projects, collaborate with technical experts across environmental, planning, sustainability, and project management disciplines, and have the chance to broaden your skills in project management, business development, and technical assessment. The role provides a platform to influence business direction, gain diverse learning experiences, and progress your career swiftly within a reputable team known for high technical standards and thought leadership. You will be responsible for managing environmental planning, optioneering, and impact assessment processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, engaging stakeholders, and delivering high-quality reports. Enthusiasm to develop additional technical specialisms such as climate change, socio-economic and human health assessments, natural capital, ESG, digital EIA, AI, and Construction Environmental Management is encouraged.
Experience
- Proven experience conducting and managing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), including Screening and Scoping, across multiple projects and sectors
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines related to EIA and UK planning and consenting processes
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate teams and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and effectively
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, local communities, NGOs, and project developers

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Ecology, or a related field
- Membership or affiliation with relevant professional bodies (e.g. IEMA) is advantageous but not essential
