Location
Walthamstow, London with hybrid working between Thames Valley-based offices and operational water sites.

Hours
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support.

Salary
Up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a £4,500 car allowance.

About the Role
We are seeking a self-motivated, passionate, and proactive Water Site SCADA Systems Engineer to join our Operational Technology (OT) team. You will be responsible for the daily maintenance and fault-finding of Site SCADA systems, including AVEVA System Platform / Wonderware, Iconics, and RSView, supporting critical water treatment works, reservoirs, and booster stations across your region. This role plays a key part in the digital transformation of the UK’s largest water company, ensuring reliable, resilient, and secure SCADA operations that keep water services running 24/7.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high availability of site-based SCADA platforms targeting 99.2% uptime or higher.
- Deliver planned maintenance including health checks, patches, hotfixes, and disaster recovery plan testing.
- Perform annual backups and deliver system updates and upgrades.
- Respond to SCADA-related service requests within 15 working days.
- Implement and maintain security improvements to enhance OT system resilience.
- Participate in in-hours and out-of-hours support rota providing emergency technical support.
- Use fault databases to optimize service delivery and reduce repeat incidents.
- Escalate recurring faults for root cause analysis and mitigation.
- Champion OT Change Management and Risk Assessment to minimize operational impact.
- Provide technical input during design and delivery of Capital Delivery projects.
- Ensure all OT system changes are controlled, documented, and authorized.
- Supply SCADA asset, alarm, and event data reports to support operations and compliance.
- Identify and manage local OT stakeholders to maintain alignment and effective delivery.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide mentoring and technical guidance to ICA Technicians and operational teams.
- Foster collaboration within the wider OT Service & Technical team to deliver consistent, high-quality support.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in the maintenance and/or delivery of SCADA or ICA systems.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering both reactive and project-based work is desirable.
- Knowledge or prior experience in the water industry, utilities, or a similar regulated sector is advantageous.
- Experience negotiating with Operations to secure funding for OT hardware such as servers, switches, and UPS systems is desirable.

Qualifications
- Recognised technical qualification in OT, ICA, or SCADA systems.
- Hands-on expertise in site-based SCADA and PLC systems with up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices.
- Proficiency in AVEVA System Platform / Wonderware and legacy SCADA systems such as Iconics and RSView.
- Strong IT proficiency including Microsoft Office and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of extended SCADA programming, MS applications, and IP-based communications (LAN/WLAN).
- Technical problem-solving and fault resolution expertise is desirable.
- Understanding of basic LAN network design and troubleshooting principles.
- Awareness of network redundancy and resilience concepts such as VLANs, subnets, and redundancy protocols is advantageous.
