About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as a Technical Director in Ecology and help shape the future of environmental consultancy across the UK and Ireland. You will lead and deliver ecological inputs on a diverse portfolio of large infrastructure projects in sectors such as energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport, alongside smaller local projects. Your role will combine technical leadership, project management, client engagement, and team mentoring. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the high standards expected by AECOM, clients, and the ecology profession.

As a key member of the UK&I ecology leadership team, you will influence the strategic direction of the team and contribute to business growth through work winning and bid development. Your expertise will support the delivery of ecological assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations.

The role offers opportunities to apply innovative survey techniques, lead stakeholder consultations, and foster technical innovation and research within the team. You will mentor junior staff and peers within a supportive environment that encourages professional development through internal and external training, mentoring, and coaching.

Become part of a forward-thinking, inclusive team of around 150 ecology professionals, including national and global leaders in species licensing, impact assessment, habitat creation, ecosystem restoration, and management.
