About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as Technical Director, leading and shaping the ecology function across the UK and Ireland. You will provide technical leadership and project management expertise on a diverse portfolio of large infrastructure projects in sectors such as energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport, alongside smaller local projects. Your role will balance client engagement, work winning, project delivery, and team leadership. You will lead ecological assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations. You will manage projects and budgets, lead consultations with clients and stakeholders, and drive innovation and technical development within the team. Mentoring and coaching junior and peer staff will be a key part of your role. Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience leading and managing biodiversity assessments for major planning applications and Development Consent Order submissions.
- Strong project management skills including budget management, stakeholder engagement, and bid/tender preparation.
- Experience reviewing and verifying technical ecological work and supporting wider team members.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant biodiversity legislation, policy, and reporting standards.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in ecology or a related subject.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution and working towards or holding Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist status.
