About the Role
Are you passionate about improving the environmental performance of infrastructure development projects? Join AECOM as a Technical Director in Environmental Impact Assessment within our Environment & Sustainability business, comprising over 650 staff across the UK and Ireland. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary environmental inputs to large-scale infrastructure projects that support the UK’s net zero goals and sustainable development. Projects include energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables), energy distribution, strategic rail, highway improvements, regeneration, and developments across ecommerce, minerals, waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
You will oversee environmental inputs throughout all project stages from early strategy and site identification, feasibility, optioneering, detailed design, to construction and operation. You will work across multiple consenting regimes such as DCO, TCPA, TWA, and hybrid Bills. The role involves client relationship management, securing new commissions, and leading a team of technical experts within the Environmental Impact team.
As a founding member of the IEMA EIA Quality Mark, AECOM aligns all work with our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. You will collaborate with integrated design teams to identify environmental constraints, develop mitigation solutions, and deliver benefits where possible. You will also play an active role in staff development and mentoring, and promote AECOM’s environmental services internally and externally.
At AECOM, you will enjoy a dynamic, inclusive workplace with flexibility to work from office, home, or client sites, supported by comprehensive compensation, benefits, and well-being programs. Join us to contribute to transformational projects that create a positive and lasting impact on communities worldwide.
