£31,775 per annum (competitive salary range £32,000 – £44,000 depending on experience)
About the Role
As a Trade Effluent Investigation Technologist, you will visit business customer sites to investigate trade effluent discharges and agree on action plans to ensure responsible wastewater management. You will build strong relationships with customers, helping them return to compliance and stepping in when issues arise by creating action plans or gathering evidence for enforcement. This hands-on role involves working closely with operations teams on pollution incidents, such as blockages or unusual substances entering treatment works, and occasionally raising trade effluent charges for non-compliance. You will prepare clear, accurate records and reports that stand up to scrutiny, supporting enforcement or prosecution when necessary. Your work will directly protect the environment and Thames Water’s network.

Experience
- Confident communicator with experience in a customer-facing role.
- Experience in regulatory environments such as auditing, enforcement, or police is desirable.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM tools is advantageous.
About you
- Motivated to learn and develop in a unique role.
- Strong attention to detail with good IT skills, particularly MS Office.
- Able to think logically, follow regulations, and keep accurate records.
- Understanding of wastewater or environmental processes is desirable.
- Knowledge of basic chemistry or lab work is a plus.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle is essential.
