About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects within a global network, contributing to shaping the future of freight and logistics. We are seeking a Consultant or Assistant Consultant to join our growing Freight and Logistics team, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. Your work will span freight policy and strategy, infrastructure improvements, urban freight solutions, logistics planning, and freight decarbonisation initiatives. You will support clients in developing evidence-based policies, business cases, and operational strategies that promote resilient, efficient, and sustainable freight movement. The role involves working collaboratively within a small, friendly, and progressive team that values mentorship and professional development. You will engage with public and private sector clients including local authorities, national government bodies, infrastructure operators, and freight developers, helping to deliver innovative solutions across freight corridors, urban logistics, and decarbonisation projects. WSP offers dedicated mentoring, structured CPD, and support through professional accreditation where applicable.

Requirements

Experience
Applicants from analytical and numerate backgrounds are welcome, including economics, data analysis, policy, management consulting, transport planning, freight and warehouse design, or operations. Experience applying quantitative or structured approaches to complex challenges is essential. Demonstrated ability to develop bespoke solutions and work across multiple subject areas at pace is highly valued.

You should have a genuine interest in shaping the future of freight and logistics systems, including policy, technology, and innovation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex analysis clearly are required. You must be agile and proactive, able to adapt to changing priorities and identify risks early. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Willingness to work towards professional accreditation is expected.

Qualifications
There are no specific qualification requirements stated; however, relevant academic or professional qualifications in related fields will be advantageous. A commitment to ongoing professional development and chartership support is provided.
