Hours
6:30 am – 3:45 pm, with 1 week out of 5 on the night shift from 9:00 pm – 5:30 am. You will also participate in an out-of-hours standby rota, with additional payment.
Salary
From £27,465 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
About the Role
Working as part of a team of 5, this manual role involves the day-to-day maintenance of the Victorian trunk sewer network in London. You will perform a range of assigned activities including routine maintenance, investigations, and safety cover across North and East London. This safety-focused role requires working closely with team members and involves working in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting heavy loads. Key duties include physical maintenance of the sewer network and associated assets such as penstock gates, operating plant and equipment, cleaning, basic maintenance, and fault-finding.
As a critical safety requirement, you must be clean-shaven and weigh less than 110kgs due to lifting equipment for man-riding. You will work outdoors and in confined underground spaces year-round, supporting the maintenance of an essential service for customers and protecting the environment.

Experience
This role suits candidates with previous manual labouring experience capable of carrying out all assigned tasks. Drainage knowledge and a mechanical background are advantageous but not essential.
About you
You must be physically fit and comfortable working in water, at heights, and within confined sewer spaces. Participation in a pre-employment medical is required. You must be clean-shaven and maintain a weight under 110kgs due to safety equipment constraints. A full manual UK driving licence is essential; a 7.5t licence is desirable. You should be prepared to work in a challenging outdoor environment daily.
Qualifications
Mandatory to work in confined spaces, including obtaining a CP2 confined space rescue qualification. Other qualifications are not specified but relevant safety and operational training will be provided.
