About the Role
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, making a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes. As a Water Quality Technician, you will carry out over 500,000 tests annually on water samples collected from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties to ensure the highest quality of drinking water. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer addresses, which will involve regular cold calling, necessitating strong customer service skills.
- Overseeing the management of maintenance of sampling records and equipment to UKAS and DWI standards.
- Planning your workload and delivering a monitoring program, liaising with various teams for technical data and reactive work.
- Investigating possible supply issues while effectively planning routes and collection programs.
- Arranging appointments with customers and sampling customer complaints.
- Participating in an out-of-hours roster, including weekends, on a five-week rotation.
- Driving is a significant part of this role, so you should be comfortable driving for a large portion of your day.

Experience
Excellent customer service skills are essential as you will be visiting customers' homes on behalf of Thames Water. Confidence in cold calling residential and commercial properties is required.

About you
You should be organized, work well independently, and have excellent attention to detail for record-keeping. Existing knowledge or a willingness to learn about the water industry is beneficial. Strong written and oral communication skills, along with computer literacy, are necessary. You must be comfortable driving a large commercial van in busy environments and possess a clean driving license.
