About the Role
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, making a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes. As a Water Quality Technician, you will carry out over 500,000 tests annually on water samples collected from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties to ensure the highest quality of drinking water. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer addresses, requiring strong customer service skills and regular cold calling.
- Managing maintenance of sampling records and equipment to UKAS and DWI standards.
- Planning your workload and delivering monitoring programs in collaboration with various teams.
- Investigating supply issues and effectively planning routes and collection programs.
- Arranging appointments with customers and addressing customer complaints.
- Participating in an out-of-hours roster, including weekends on a five-week rotation.
- Driving is a significant part of this role, so you should be comfortable driving for a large portion of your day.

Experience
Excellent customer service skills are essential as you will be visiting customer homes on behalf of Thames Water.

About you
- Confident in cold calling residential and commercial properties.
- Organized and able to work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail for maintaining records of samples.
- Existing knowledge or willingness to learn about the water industry and relevant processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, along with computer literacy.
- Comfortable driving a large commercial van in busy environments and rural locations.
- A clean driving license is essential, with efficient journey planning and route-finding skills.
