Full time, including participation in an out-of-hours roster on a five-week rotation, which includes weekends.

About the Role
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, supplying 2.6 billion litres of water daily to 15 million customers through 32,000 km of pipes. As a Water Quality Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of drinking water by collecting and testing over 500,000 water samples annually from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties.
- You will be responsible for collecting samples, which involves regular cold calling and requires strong customer service skills.
- Testing will be conducted using equipment provided in your van, including bottles, thermometers, and other relevant tools.
- You will manage and maintain sampling records and equipment in compliance with UKAS and DWI standards.
- Planning your workload and delivering monitoring programs in collaboration with the Technical Scheduling team, CSWQ group, Process Team, and Regulatory and Performance team.
- Investigating potential supply issues, planning routes efficiently, and arranging customer appointments.
- Taking part in sampling customer complaints and community events.
- Driving a large commercial van is a significant part of this role, requiring confidence and skill in various driving environments, from busy city centres to rural locations.

Requirements

Experience
- Previous experience in customer service or water industry roles is advantageous but not essential.
- Confident in cold calling residential and commercial properties.

- Highly organised and able to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Open to learning about the water industry and relevant processes.
- Excellent written, oral communication, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
- Comfortable and confident driving a large commercial van in diverse environments.
- Ability to plan journeys efficiently and demonstrate good driving knowledge.

Qualifications
- A clean driving licence is essential.
- No specific qualifications required, but a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are important.
