About the Role
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, supplying 2.6 billion litres of water daily to 15 million customers through 32,000 km of pipes. As a Water Quality Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of drinking water by carrying out over 500,000 tests annually on samples collected from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties.
- You will collect water samples, often involving cold calling at residential and commercial properties, requiring strong customer service skills.
- Testing will be conducted using equipment provided in your van, including bottles, thermometers, and other relevant tools.
- You will manage and maintain sampling records and equipment in compliance with UKAS and DWI standards.
- Planning your workload and delivering monitoring programs will involve liaising with various internal teams such as Technical Scheduling, CSWQ, Process, and Regulatory and Performance teams.
- Additional duties include investigating supply issues, route planning, arranging customer appointments, handling sampling complaints, and participating in community events.
- Driving a large commercial van for a significant portion of your day is essential, navigating both busy urban and remote rural locations.
Experience
- Previous experience in customer-facing roles is beneficial but not essential.
- Confidence in cold calling residential and commercial properties is required.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
