
Location
Walthamstow, London, with field-based work primarily around the Thames Valley area.
Hours
38 hours per week, including participation in an out-of-hours roster with weekend work on a five-week rotation.
Salary
£14.59 per hour
About the Role
As a Water Quality Technician, you will be responsible for collecting water samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties to ensure the highest drinking water quality. This role involves regular cold calling, so strong customer service skills and confidence in engaging with residential and commercial customers are essential. You will test samples using equipment provided in your van, including bottles, thermometers, and other relevant tools. You will manage and maintain sampling records and equipment in compliance with UKAS and DWI standards. Your duties will also include planning workloads, liaising with various technical and regulatory teams, investigating supply issues, arranging customer appointments, handling sample complaints, and participating in community events. Driving a large commercial van safely and efficiently across diverse environments is a significant part of this role. This is a 26-week assignment with Thames Water via Pertemps.
Experience
Experience in customer-facing roles is beneficial, especially involving cold calling and working independently. Previous knowledge of the water industry is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.

Qualifications
A clean driving licence is essential for this role. No specific formal qualifications are required, but a willingness to learn and adapt is important.
