
Location
Walthamstow, London, with field-based work primarily around the Thames Valley area.
Hours
38 hours per week, including participation in an out-of-hours roster with weekend work on a five-week rotation.
Salary
£14.59 per hour
About the Role
As a Water Quality Technician, you will be responsible for collecting water samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties to ensure the highest drinking water quality. This involves regular cold calling, so strong customer service skills and confidence are essential. You will test samples using equipment provided in your van, including bottles, thermometers, and other relevant tools. You will manage and maintain sampling records and equipment in compliance with UKAS and DWI standards.
- Plan your workload and deliver monitoring programs in coordination with the Technical Scheduling team, CSWQ group, Process Team, and Regulatory and Performance team.
- Investigate potential supply issues while efficiently planning routes and collection schedules.
- Arrange appointments with customers, handle sample-related complaints, and participate in community events.
- Driving a large commercial van is a significant part of this role, requiring confidence in navigating busy urban and rural environments.
This is a 26-week assignment with Thames Water via Pertemps.

Experience
- Previous experience is not mandatory but having knowledge of the water industry or related processes is advantageous.
- Confident in cold calling residential and commercial properties.
- Comfortable driving large commercial vehicles in diverse environments.
