About the Role
Join AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, and kick start your career in air quality within an established consultancy. You will work alongside experienced and senior team members assisting with air quality assessments for a variety of projects involving local authorities, government, infrastructure providers, developers and industrial clients. Projects may include National Highways air quality assessments, air quality management studies for local authorities, passive and continuous monitoring for major infrastructure projects such as the Silvertown Tunnel and HS2, and the development of emission inventories and digital tools. The role involves air quality monitoring including site assessment, preparation and maintenance, dispersion modelling combined with GIS, data analysis, emissions inventory work, input into environmental statements, coordination support for multi-disciplinary project teams, and tender and proposal preparation.

Requirements

Experience
Previous consultancy experience, including work placements or relevant voluntary experience, is beneficial but not essential. Awareness of GIS, modelling or programming skills is an advantage. A full driving license is desirable due to travel requirements for site surveys.

About you
Strong numeracy skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a variety of stakeholders. You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent research and report writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work flexibly under pressure are essential. You must be able to structure and prioritise work effectively through close cooperation and communication with the team.

Qualifications
Ideally hold an MSc or PhD in Air Quality or a related discipline with an air quality focus such as Meteorology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, Climate Science or Environmental Management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential. You will work towards professional development and potential Chartership with the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM).
